SSR Planning has recently submitted a further appeal on a Housing Land Supply issue at Moulton, Daventry. The proposal includes the removal of a waste transfer station and the development of 150 dwellings and related employment. The key issue on this green/brownfield site is the 5 year Housing Land Supply and the contribution the site could make to provision in Daventry District.
There is an acknowledged housing shortage within the District and the Council are maintaining that the Core Strategy is the correct way to proceed. The West Northamptonshire JPU has been working on a Core Strategy for a number of years and the latest proposals have met with wide scale public opposition.
The Inquiry is scheduled for the autumn and is progressing despite the latest “Pickles” guidance which has promised to abolish Regional Spatial Strategies and their Housing Figures. The appeal is in conjunction with a leading Barrister who is advising on strategy.
